The .maxtopia file format

Maxtopia shares data as small, portable files. There are three types:

• .maxtopia — a workout or program you can send to anyone.
• .maxtopiaresults — completed results, sent from a client to a coach.
• .maxtopiabackup — a full export of your app data.

Each file contains only what you choose to put in it. Because the format is open and documented, your data is never locked in.

Opening a file

Tap any .maxtopia file in Messages, Mail, Files, or another app, then choose Open in Maxtopia.

Sharing a file

From a program or session, tap Share and send the file through any app.

The full specification

The complete, public specification — binary layout, JSON schemas, versioning policy, and a free reference implementation — lives on the file format page. The spec is released into the public domain (CC0), so anyone can build tools around it.
